Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your shooting style?

I would describe my shooting style as organized, but flexible. In that I mean that I come to a shoot prepared with a list of different poses that I would like to accomplish for the session. I also am prepared to be flexible and prompt natural interactions and emotions to capture those in between, candid moments as well! I generally start at the very beginning with what I refer to as “a standard holiday card photo” to catch those beaming smiles, but then we get into the super fun stuff, less posed and more about having fun!

Where are you based and do you travel?

I am based out of Smithsburg, Maryland and I am absolutely willing to travel, I love exploring new places especially during sessions. You can usually find me at the location early just to walk around to simply explore and scope out the best settings within that location! All Photo Sessions inlcude up to 30 miles of travel roundtrip to and from the shoot location. A cost of $0.58 per mile will be added after 30 miles is reached. Travel compensation will be calculated into the total cost once location is determined.

When will we get our photos?

I first send out a soft proofed gallery within a week of the session where coloration and basic lighting adjustments are made. After this gallery is sent off, my clients choose the images they absolutely love from this set, and those images are the ones I will hand retouch for the final gallery. From the date that clients pick their favorites, turn around time is 2-4 weeks from that date.

How many pictures will we receive?

Each package includes 20 images unless specified otherwise. These images are hand retouched to my detailed standard as I try to remove any and all distractions from my photos that I feel take away from the subject matter.

Do you recommend a specific time for photoshoots?

Timing for photoshoots is oh so important, for outdoor sessions I always strive to shoot during that golden hour (the last hour before the sun officially sets) for optimal lighting. Generally I set the time for about an hour and a half before sunset to allow some buffer time and adjustment time as well! For indoor or studio photoshoots, these can be done at anytime during the day or early evening hours! For little ones, before or after nap/meal time is always a great option as well!

Do you deliver RAW images?

I do not deliver raw images, the style displayed on my website is the style that your photos will be edited in. These images are an accurate representation of my current work/editing style whereas raw images are not.
